Schneider Electric EcoStruxure Micro Data Center with Stratus ftServer
Prevalidated, fault tolerant architectures to bring traditional data center capability to the factory floor
The EcoStruxure Micro Data Center with Stratus ftServer allows operations teams to move data acquisition and processing to the factory floor while dramatically consolidating industrial software workloads.
The jointly developed solution is tested and validated to provide Stratus’ continuous availability and Schneider Electric’s uninterrupted power in an enclosed rack that is purpose-built for the rigors of an industrial operational technology (OT) environment.
The micro data center includes key features for the edge locations such as built-in security camera, and fluid, vibration, and smoke sensors. This ‘data center-in-a-box’ allows for deployment in locations where traditional data centers do not fit, such as factories or facilities running edge-computing applications.
Why use a Micro Data Center?
The EcoStruxure Micro Data Center is performance tested, characterized, and validated – everything is pre-wired, verified and configured out of the box.
Single source enables customers to place a single order and avoid managing multiple supply chains.
Project execution complexity is reduced resulting in savings in field engineering by 25-40 percent and maintenance costs by 7 percent.
Provides operational resiliency with integrated Stratus ftServer and Schneider uninterruptible power supply (UPS)
The UPS power health data is integrated into the Stratus server.
It comes with AVEVA software pre-installed in the virtual machines.
“When partnering with Stratus, we spoke about the many day-to-day responsibilities of a system integrator and the security and privacy concerns raised with outsourcing it. We made it our mission to not only bridge the gap of IT and OT but simplify the purchase, deployment and management cycle all together with a one-stop-shop solution.” – John Knorr, VP of Global IT Alliances, at Schneider Electric

“This Stratus and Schneider Electric collaboration drastically reduces the engineering work and logistical complexity for aveva sis and distributors deploying micro data centers in ot environments. The ecostruxure micro data center with stratus ftserver should be the standard fault tolerant platform for edge-to-enterprise digital transformation projects, enabling fast deployments for performance intelligence.” – Tim Black, Global SI Program Manager, at AVEVA
Sizing and Options
The Prefabricated Data Center Modules arrive on site and ready to deploy, which significantly reduces installation time and cost. All modules are designed and built to precise specifications in a controlled factory environment and utilize DCIM software which results in improved reliability and a more predictably performing data center.
Small: Stratus ftServer 2920: 5-10k data points, 2 remote clients1
Protects the server, powered by a 1.5kVA APC Smart-UPS On–line UPS with network management card in a 6U enclosure with perforated doors. Ideal for edge computing deployments in a controlled environment. Limited capacity for additional low power devices.2
Medium: Stratus ftServer 4920: 25-50k data points, 5 remote clients1
Powered by a 2.2kVA APC Smart-UPS On-line UPS with network management card in a single 12U IT enclosure with perforated doors. Ideal for edge computing deployments in a controlled environment with an additional 6U of rack space for switches, KVM and other IT gear.3 Environmental monitoring (temperature, humidity, fluid, smoke) and security (door sensors and camera) are optional.
Large: Stratus ftServer 6910/6920: 100k data points, 20 remote clients1
Powered by a 3kVA APC Smart-UPS On-line UPS with network management card in a 42U, NEMA-12 rated enclosure with filters and ventilation fans. Ideal for larger deployments where additional IT gear is required and an IT space is not available.4 Environmental monitoring (temperature, humidity, fluid, smoke) and security (door sensors and camera) are optional.
